In January 2009 in the House of Commons Kaufman said: "My grandmother was ill in bed when the Nazis came to her home town of Staszów. A German soldier shot her dead in her bed. Madam Deputy Speaker, my grandmother did not die to provide cover for Israeli soldiers murdering Palestinian grandmothers in Gaza. The present Israeli government ruthlessly and cynically exploit the continuing guilt among Gentiles over the slaughter of Jews in the Holocaust as justification for their murder of Palestinians. The implication is that Jewish lives are precious, but the lives of Palestinians do not count. On Sky News a few days ago, the spokeswoman for the Israeli Army Major Livovich was asked about the Israeli killing of, at that time, eight hundred Palestinians. The total is now a thousand. She replied instantly, "Five hundred of them were militants." That was the reply of a Nazi. I suppose the Jews fighting for their lives in the Warsaw Ghetto could have been dismissed as militants."
Kaufman's Parliamentary expenses included £1,851 for a rug imported from New York. He had a claim for a 40-inch Bang & Olufson television costing £8,865 turned down. (The maximum MPs are allowed to claim for television sets is £750). He attempted to claim £28,834 for work on the kitchen and bathroom of his London flat. He claimed he was "living in a slum". He was eventually reimbursed for £15,329.
He claimed a total of £115,109 between 2001 and 2008 in additional costs on his London flat (which he owned outright). He claimed £245 every month for odd jobs - just under the limit for expenses submitted without receipts!
In June 2008, he submitted a claim of £1,262 for a gas bill covering March, 2006, to May, 2008. The fees office told him that his gas account was £1,055.60 in credit and paid him £122.46.
So Kaufman compares IDF spokespeople to Nazis; invokes his grandmother to make antisemitic comments in Parliament; and rips off the taxpayer which is us.
